Tigers, Ages 4-5
Our Tigers program is age-specific karate training for
the average 4 and 5-year old child. This program was designed to introduce
early skills training to the pre-school and kindergarten age group, which has
limited physical, intellectual, social and emotional abilities.
Each class we focus on one of eight early
developmental skills and on our monthly theme. The eight early skills are
kicking, punching, blocking, crawling, hopping, rolling, running and catching.
Our monthly theme will be a life skill (e.g., respect, cooperation,
discipline), safety skill (e.g., bullying, stranger awareness, traffic safety),
or a karate skill (e.g., kicks, balance, strikes, stretching, blocking).
The instructor will guide
the class through a series of exercises, stretches and/or skills to be done in
place and they will follow along as best as possible. Don?t worry if they don?t
do exactly what the instructor is presenting. Students at this age are not only
learning new martial arts skills, but they also are accumulating translation
skills ? how to translate what they hear and see into what they can do. We
break up slow activities that require self-control and concentration with
periods of structured fast, fun activities that will get the silliness out
every few minutes.
In our Tigers Program your child will:
a sense of independence
physical strength and stamina
